INTRODUCTION

This pack contains a dynamic set of resources and stimuli for educational leaders and learners to explore together. Inside you will find a variety of enjoyable, insightful activities and provoking discussion points to further understanding of the issues.

A large number of discussions and activities are provided in order to give you the widest choice to suit your own particular needs and teaching styles. It isn’t necessary for you to complete each exercise, rather, choose the tasks most relevant to your group. Similarly, feel free to apply your own activities in response to our stimuli and resources.

The pack functions on two levels:

as an aid for teaching the Holocaust,

AND

as an aid for teaching Arts and Humanities, using the Holocaust as subject matter.

The pack is also designed to generate discussions and activities core to Education for Citizenship.

See the 'How to use this pack' in the downloads for more information about using the pack.

CITIZENSHIP CONCEPTS

The material in this pack is ideally suited for generating discussions and activities core to education for citizenship. The pack aims to get people thinking and participating responsibly in issues that reflect their political, economical, social and cultural lives.
In line with the Education for Citizenship ethos, this pack encourages cross-curricular activities and connections between subjects and the world outside. It aims to encourage links between the school and the community. Students are asked to participate in contextualised decision making and to exercise informed choices.
This pack encourages and stimulates its readers into seeking answers, and most importantly asking questions.
Key Citizenship Concepts have been included at the end of each group of activities or discussions. These are provided to help and guide you by highlighting the main issues and concepts those specific activities will raise for participants. You can use these words to advance, steer and evaluate the progress of your group.
